Sunday, December 6~art + food at Manakintowne invitational art show and local food tasting

Lisa Nye
We had a great turnout to see the art work of Lisa Nye, Heidi Lersch, Sarah Masters,
Lisa Goodwyn, Erin Richardson, Garth Swanson, Sue McCoy, Wes Mears, Patsy Jewett,
the multitalented Archer family, and more.
And thanks to Pete Markham, Annie Chalkley of Pfoods, Art Ganger, Becky Lillywhite,
and friends for the soul satisfying winter comestibles and warm beverages:
beet and apple galettes, Thanksgiving soup, chive biscuits, pickled pumpkin,
homemade onion dip, veggie risotto squares, rosemary tea bread, shortbreads,
apple cider and a variety of teas.
Thank you
all who came with donations and food for the Central Virginia Food Bank.
We collected 15 grocery bags full!
Thursday, December 3~Wendell Berry's visit to Charlottesville
Listen to a podcast of the lecture: "Simple Solutions, Package Deals and a 50 Year Farm Bill"
What an amazing evening.
Overflow crowds turned out to hear this farmer/poet/essayist/prophet at the University of Virginia.
Thank you, Tomas, for including our chicories, Padron peppers and us in the
post lecture gathering and dinner at Mas .
Mr. Berry's work should be at the top of your winter reading list if you are
a human being interested in life on, in and with the earth. Pass it on...
Look for Manakintowne to be profiled on America's Heartland, a nationally syndicated farm show on PBS.
Shooting took place here at the farm and around town on August 6.
The show is set to air on a Sunday afternoon in early winter.
